The goddess Hathor is connected with the site of Deir el-Bahri and Hatshepsut's Temple. At the south end of the second colonnade of the temple is a Hathor chapel; its vestibule features the characteristic Hathor-headed pillars shown here. The temple is nestled into a rather imposing rocky cliff face and its pillars and colonnades seem a restful sanctuary under such a powerful natural presence.
